Q: What happens when my TV aerial goes wrong?
If you are having trouble tuning your TV or perhaps your TV reception is not quite working as it should this could be caused by a large number of factors which our trained Engineers can diagnose swiftly. For example:
- Age of the aerial – older, weather-beaten aerials could be liable to corrosion and have breakages possibly caused by water damage. In this case our Engineer may replace the broken parts or recommend a new aerial
- Multiple TV points – each time you add another TV point this could weaken your signal, if you have over 3 TV points we may recommend a signal amplifier (either a ‘mast head’ amplifier if you have now power point in your loft or a ‘distribution amplifier’), which we are happy to fit and fully test.
- 4G mobile signals – mobile phone companies use technology called ‘LTE’ (Long Term Evolution) for high speed wireless communications which can cause ‘spikes’ in your TV signal. Our TV and aerial specialists can overcome this by supplying LTE protected equipment. In fact, we only supply LTE protected equipment for all our aerial installations!
- Location, location, location – perhaps you may be fortunate enough enough live in a beautiful remote part of the English countryside? However, if you are a long distance from the nearest TV transmitter with high hills in between this could cause poor TV reception (‘blackspots’ or ‘pockets’ where the reception drops) and you may need your signal boosting using an amplifier
